Arfa Karim Randhawa, a teenager from Faisalabad, Pakistan who at the age of nine became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional has died after suffering an epileptic attack and cardiac arrest.

After being given the certification in 2005, Karim was invited to Microsoft’s headquarters at Redmond, United States. At that age she was able to impress Bill Gates and other top technocrats with her in-depth knowledge of programming.

Gates reached out to the family and offered to pay for her medical care when he learnt about her health condition and he even offered to move her to US. Because she was on a ventilator, it was difficult to air-lift her.
