Swine Flu toll in India has already reached 20 within the span of a couple of days after the first victim succumbed to death in Pune. Mumbai seems to be the worst affected after Pune in India. Considering the highly contagious nature of the flu, the authorities have shut down schools, colleges, cinema halls and other public places. Tourism has taken a beating, and everyone is scurrying to hospitals to get themselves tested.

Do You Have The H1N1?

Symptoms of swine flu are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort. If you observe these symptoms, wear a mask immediately and get yourself tested for the H1N1 virus. Please Do NOT queue up putside the hospitals for no reason. If you do so, you might contract the virus standing there in a queue!

Prevention Of Swine Flu

WHO has already declared the 2009 Swine Flu to be the Worst Pandemic in the last 41 years. Here are a few things you should do to prevent Swine Flu infection…

Wash your hands with an alcohol based hand wash or an antiseptic soap every few hours. It is most important to wash your hands/bathe with soap immdiately after you come home. Avoid touching anything or anyone in your house before you cleanse yourself.

Disinfect surfaces in your house with a diluted chlorine bleach wash.

Avoid going out in crowded places like malls or railway stations etc.

Buy medication (Tamiflu) and stock in your house. If the pandemic spreads, medicine may be hard to obtain.

Whiskey is being regarded as an excellent disinfectant against Swine Flu. Remember the good old days when grandma would fix you a whiskey-honey toddy to releive a sore throat? It still works!

• Wear face masks when going out in public.

Avoid touching surfaces like door knobs, handles, staircase banisters and other surfaces in public, that are touched by many people every day.

Avoid using public toilets..

• Ramdev Ji has advised people to take up Yoga and breathing exercise to boost their immune systems. A strong immune system is the best defence against the H1N1.

• A hot concoction of tulsi, bel-patra, black pepper boiled together for 20 minutes is a home-made disinfecting drink.

The most important thing is to avoid panic. A panic situation can only further worsen the pandemic. So just take care, be cautious and go to your doctor if you experience flu like symptoms.
