The Ketogenic diet has become a huge hit with people all over the world. After all, it is the only diet where you can gobble up on fats and meat and still lose weight! The Keto diet encourages people to get 75% of their calories from fats, 20% from protein and 5% from carbs. So the followers of this diet end up eating a lot of fatty animal products like cheese, steak, bacon etc. 

Experts have warned many times that this kind of diet is not good for the body in long term. So we will not even go in that direction! But have you ever wondred what this eating style is doing to our planet?

In a time where we are already struggling with global warming and climate change, a meat based diet only makes matter worse. It causes increased carbon emissions from the animals being raised on farms. Many places where the meat is not produced locally will use transportation to bring in the meat. This is another cause of increased carbon emissions. Compared to a plant based diet, the Keto diet has a much larger carbon footprint and is really bad for the environment.
