So the Diwali is gone. Contrary to what you has planned, you have eaten up loads of sweets, nuts, chocolates etc, and have also had quite a bit to drink with your friends and family. You are sure you have managed to gain a few pounds in the last 5 days, and you know it shall take you five months to lose them! What do you do? Do you need to detox to get all those toxins out of your body right away?
Though some people might tell you that you can detox the weight away in a day, it is hardly possible! You do not need to starve yourself for the next two days in order to get back to the healthy state you enjoyed before Diwali. You just need to give your body some time to get back to that state, and give it the support it needs to do so. How?
1. Eat light for the next 5-7 days. Focus more on citrus fruit, juices and salads. Avoid eating heavy dishes, especially for dinner. Do not consume leftover sweets or fried dishes at all.
2. Get adequate exercise. Give yourself an aerobic/resistance training workout for 25 minutes in the morning, and practice power yoga for 25 minutes in the evening.
3. Get loads of fresh air and drink 2-3 litres of water every day. These are both necessary to flush out the toxins.
4. Avoid drinking or smoking for as long as you can!
