Millions of people are trying to lose weight all over the world. A few of us are dieting, a few of us are running or walking or doing some other exercise. But how many people are successful? A large percentage of people lose the battle of weight loss, and usually its is because of wrong strategy.

What do you think is the best way to lose weight? If you need to lose a few kilos, do you start watching your diet or do you run to the gym?

Experts say that no one way is as effective as a combination strategy. In fact, experts in this field have a rule called the 80:20 rule, which is said to be the most effective for losing weight. The 80:20 rule says that one needs to restrict diet and exercise in this ratio. It is known that 3500 calories make up for one pound of weight. So to lose one pound, you need to cut down your diet or exercise to burn 3500 calories. The 80:20 rule states that 80% of the calorie reduction required for weight loss should come from diet restriction, and 20% of the calorie reduction should be done by exercising.

This ratio is said to be most effective as people find it easier to be consistent in watching diet and less consistent in exercising. This is because one would need to run 8-10 miles every day to lose a pound in a week, and that seems like a lot. But this does not undermine the importance of working ot regularly.
