Here are a few common reasons why you may have gained weight even though you were trying to lose some!

The first common reason for unintended weight gain is eating late in the night. If you are in the habit of eating dinner late, your weight loss goals will always be hard to achieve. Try to finish your last meal of the day by 7 and you will see a huge change!

The next reason why your weight may have increased is water retention. If you do not drink enough water during the day, your body will retain whatever fluid it is given and you will see an increased weight on the scales next morning. This also happens when you consume alcoholic beverages because they tend to dehydrate your body.

Your weight is also linked with your menstrual cycle. You may see increased weight just before your period. This happens due to PMS. If you suffer from irregular periods, it is a big reason why you may also gain weight. Hormonal disturbances are the biggest reason for weight gain in young girls. Your thyroid function is also linked with weight disturbances.

Other than these reasons, some medicines also cause weight gain. If you started a new medicine and noticed weight gain, you may want to take it up with your doctor for advice.
