Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS, affects almost 20% of Indian women. Yet it often goes untreated, and contributes to female infertility in a huge way. It is, in fact, one of the most common causes of female infertility. But if treated, PCOS can be controlled and the patient can also conceive naturally or with assisted reproductive technologies.

Tips For Getting Pregnant If You Have PCOS

PCOS is a lifestyle disease, the most common endocrine disorder, and is a little difficult to manage with just medicines. It is a precursor to diseases like diabetes and heart disease. So it is very important to try and control it, and this will also help you in getting pregnant.

1. Change your diet. Switch to a low carbohydrate diet if trying to manage PCOS. It is best to increase your intake of nuts, fresh fruit, vegetables etc, and reduce your intake of processed and refined foods. Avoid fried and sweet dishes.

2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise is very important for women suffering from PCOS. Exercising releases Endorphins which relax and make you peaceful. Stress reduction also helps in treating PCOS.

3. Lose weight: Alter your diet and lifestyle to become more active and lose weight. PCOS is closely related with weight gain and weight loss as one can induce the other. So losing even 10% of your weight can go a long way in regularising the periods and initiating ovulation.

4. Go Healthy: Do everything that promotes good health and avoid everything that causes poor health. So get lots of fresh air and drink plenty of water. But limit your intake of alcohol and completely avoid smoking and recreational drugs.

A few months of regular exercise, more organic and natural diet, and a little weight loss later you should be able to see a slimmer you, and should be able to see a positive change in your monthly cycle too. This will help in ovulating and getting pregnant.
