The central government has launched its free vaccination for all program today. Day 1 of this new policy saw record number of vaccinations across the nation. India set a new record by administering 81 lakh doses of COVID19 vaccine on day 1 of the new policy.
Leading the vaccination drive is the state of Madhya Pradesh. MP administered 13.71 lakh doses of COVID vaccine on Monday, leading the states across India. Following its lead is the state of Karnataka with 9.82 lakh doses administered in one day. The other 3 states that did really well are Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana. Dr VK Paul, head of COV19 task force has complimented vaccine makers for their contribution in the fight against COVID. “Both these companies (Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech) have made a very sincere effort, hand-in-hand and with the partnership of the Government of India to ramp up their supplies.”
The number of new COVID cases is on steady decline, while the number of people who have successfully fought off COVID is on the rise. The situation is on the med and the ongoing vaccination drive is the best tool in this war against the pandemic.
