As reported earlier, Deepika Padukone is in talks with ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for a film based on a chapter of writer Hussain Zaidi's 'Mafia Queens Of Mumbai'.
The film will reportedly see Deepika play the role of a gangster.
Report also suggests that, the untitled next will also reunite Deepika and her 'Piku' co-star Irrfan Khan.
Irrfan will be seen playing a local don who falls in love with Deepika.
The film is directed by debutant Honey Trehan and will be produced by Vishal Bhardwaj. Vishal is rather happy that Honey will get to work with his dream cast in his very first debut directorial.
About the film Vishal said, "I am more excited for my friend Honey, who has been with me for the last 20 years. He is lucky to have this brilliant a cast in his first film. I am very happy and excited to produce the film."
If sources to be believed, Deepika will be seen as mafia queen Rahima Khan, also known as Sapna Didi. Alongside her, Irrfan will play a local gangster who falls in love with her and helps her on her mission of eliminating gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
Further, Vishal was asked if he thinks Deepika could do justice to the role?
To this, Vishal said, "Deepika is one of the finest actors we have. She has a combination of an actor and a star. Very rarely do we see a superstar who is also a good actor, she is one of that."
Reportedly, The makers plan to start shooting for the film in January next year.
This will be the first time that Deepika will be seen playing a character so dark and gritty. if all goes well it will be Interesting to see Deepika in a totally different role.
