Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees has been pushed to January 2017, avoiding a release with Salman Khan’s Sultan. Sultan will release on 6 July 2016.
 

The Rahul Dholakia-directed film Raees will now release on January 26, 2017, which is co-produced by Shah Rukh’s Red Chilies Entertainment and Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.

The Producers said, It was not an easy decision to move the film. We see that ‘Raees’ is highly expected. Nevertheless, a film of such magnitude needs the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have resolved to shift our release date to 26th January, 2017.

SRK had earlier hinted in an interview with PTI that he would want to avoid the box-office clash with good friend Salman.

The film is set in 1980s Gujarat. It tells the story of the bootlegger Raees Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) whose business is highly challenging and eventually thwarted by a police officer (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
