Bollywood is now open to making films on topics like sex, which were once considered taboo. The success of movies like Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Savadhan has further encouraged filmmakers to address such subjects.
Ayushmann Khurrana, who starred in both the films, was appreciated for picking these projects.
While Sonakshi Sinha’s film Khandaani Shafakhana doesn’t aim to highlight one particular sex-related issue, it intends to encourage people to talk about sex openly.
The actress said, “Films, apart from entertaining you, can drive you to start thinking about topics that are relevant, but are seldom discussed.
Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan have made Ayushmann Khurrana the flag bearer of films on sex-related subjects in Bollywood. His films have actually made these discussions possible in the public domain. These films and their acceptance in Bollywood has made it possible to make such movies and highlight such subjects in a lighter vein. I’m happy that I have entered that space, too.”
When we reached out to Ayushmann Khurrana, he said, “I think that’s a huge compliment. We should talk about sex openly, and times have indeed changed.
Sex education is not something that should happen with peers. Parents should start the conversation… maybe with something like good and bad touch. When we talk about progressive cinema, this is what we are talking about; bringing about change that matters.”
