After the super success of ‘Kabir Singh’, Shahid Kapoor is all set to star in yet another Telugu remake ‘Jersey’ where he will be seen playing a cricketer. The actor is leaving no stone unturned to get into the skin of the character he is playing.
Reportedly, the makers of ‘Jersey’ have roped in cricketer Rohit Sharma’s coach and mentor Dinesh Lad to train Shahid.
The producers of the film reportedly decided to get a reputed coach to train Shahid and Gowtam Tinnanuri too agreed for the same. The actor is being trained under State-level Ranji Trophy coaches too for the film. Not only that, an eight-member team, including certified athletic trainers and fitness experts from UK, has been hired to help Shahid to get into the skin of his character. Shahid Kapoor has earlier played cricket at the college and club levels.
The report also stated that Shahid is thrilled with the opportunity to learn under Dinesh.
He has been working on the batting techniques with Dinesh Lad for a few sessions during the initial schedules of the shooting in November. He also picked up the footwork and different styles of stroke play from the renowned coach.
The movie will also star Mrunal Thakur of ‘Super 30’ fame in key role.
Reportedly, half the shooting has been completed, but Shahid continues to train under Ranji coaches. Since the film is now being shot in Chandigarh, the actor is training under Haryana state coaches. He hits the nets whenever opportunity arises, and during shooting breaks.
