Bollywood is in love with Biopics, Thanks to the success of films like Paan Singh Tomar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, MS Dhoni – The Untold story, and Dangal, filmmakers are itching to document the hardships of Indian sports stars.

There are already two shuttler biopics underway — Saina Nehwal’s biopic starring Parineeti Chopra and Sonu Sood’s attempt at documenting badminton star PV Sindhu’s life.

On the other hand, reportedly, Tennis ace Sania Mirza biopic also is in talk. She has a life story with a five-setter humdinger narrative that can hold the audiences, including her marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. Incidentally, director Farah Khan is one of the closest people in Mirza’s life, and rumour has it that a biopic is in the works.
 

With a buzz earlier that producer Ronnie Screwvala may bankroll the film on Sania’s life and career; there is also news that the tennis ace and the producer are now meeting various directors.

“Farah is the closest to Sania from the film industry, and Sania has been seeking her advice. A biopic like Sania’s is not really up Farah’s alley as her references are a bit retro and full of hardcore entertainment, which is why Sania is looking at a director who can give a biopic the right treatment. Once the director is finalised, then hunt for the actress to play the lead will be finalised,” says our source in the film industry.
