Last year in December, we had reported you that after the grand success of Stree, actor Rajkummar Rao and producer Dinesh Vijan are collaborating with another horror-comedy, which will be co-produced by Fukrey franchise helmer Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
Now, the title of this venture is out and it is as quirky as Stree. As per the Mumbai Mirror report, the makers have kept the title, Rooh-Afza.
The plot of the film revolves around a singing ghost, who puts grooms to sleep with a lullaby so that she can possess the bride. It is set in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh and is based on another folk-legend. Talking about the plot, the producer told tabloid, "The chudail is trying to put him to sleep with a lullaby. It is believed that if a groom dozes off, she proceeds to possess his bride in a bid to make his marital life hell. The film is a laugh riot all the way while at the same time, talk of the legend and the spirit will have you looking around yourself, wondering if she is anywhere close by.” Dinesh concluded saying, “Even though it is named after the refreshing summer drink, Rooh Afza, there is nothing sweet about it.” While the film is set to go on floors in May, the makers are yet to finalize the female lead and director.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen in Mental Hai Kya, which is directed by National award-winning Telugu filmmaker, Prakash Kovelamudi.
He is known for helming films like Bommalata and Anaganaga O Dheerudu. The film marks the second collaboration between Rajkummar and Kangana after Queen (2014). It is produced by Ekta Kapoor and is set to hit the screens on March 29, 2019.
