Prabhas is making his Bollywood debut with Saaho, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor.
In Jaipur on Tuesday to promote his film, Prabhas, who had come sans the lead actress, recalled the first time he played a romantic hero in a film down south.
“We were shooting on the roads of Hyderabad and I had to hug my co-star. I didn’t completely hug her and kept my fists closed. So the director of the film showed that scene on the monitor and asked me, ‘What are you doing? It’s an emotional scene and you didn’t even hug her properly.’ And I replied saying that since the scene was being shot on the road, I was a little awkward. But in my third film, again a romantic movie, I did a better job and made sure that I show him (the director of his first film) my work and take his feedback, which was positive. So over the years, I have learned the art of romancing on screen. Thus, in Saaho, it came easy to me. The only difficulty I faced was saying dialogues in Hindi. We had a master (translator) on the sets to help me with the language and Shraddha was kind enough to help me with the dialogues,” said Prabhas.
Saaho is a multilingual film in which Prabhas will be seen performing highoctane stunts. But contrary to reports that he has done the action sequences himself, the actor cleared that he has used body double in the film.
“Initially, in my career, I used to do all my action sequences by myself. But I realised that you need to take care of your body and health. In Saaho, we have used body double as and where it was required,”he said. The actor also cleared the air about him getting marriage proposals from 5000 girls after the release of Baahubali and said that there was no truth in the story.
The Baahubali series set the bar high for the actor. Prabhas admitted that he was aware that people will have a lot of expectations from him as he is coming after a gap of two years.
“I feel a sense of responsibility on my shoulders. People gave me immense love for Baahubali and I can’t let them down (with Saaho). It’s my turn to entertain them and I am happy that so far, I have been getting good reviews on the trailers. I think there’s a lot of stress and burden on you when you do big-budget films. There was a lot of stress when we made Baahubali part 1 as there was a lot of money involved in it and we didn’t know how the audience would react. Now, the situation is same with Saaho. We thought of wrapping it up in ₹150cr but the budget rose to ₹350cr as we didn’t want to compromise on the quality. The makers have taken a big risk,” he shared.
Talking about being identified as Baahubali, Prabhas said, “I think at least in this lifetime, I will be called Baahubali and I don’t mind that.
A lot of people call me by my name, but majority of them call me Baahubali and that’s fine. This film has given me a lot of popularity across the country.” About Shraddha, Prabhas said, “Shraddha and I have a very good chemistry.”
