'One meal on my birthday is always rajma chawal,' says Athiya Shetty
It's Athiya Shetty's 27th birthday on November 5 and the two-film old actress expressed her happiness to spend a working birthday this year.
"I have no plans. Surprisingly, I usually never have plans on my birthday. I just go with the flow. I prefer to be on the sets because I am (the) happiest there. This year, I think I will be doing promotions and interviews," said Athiya who will be seen next in 'Motichoor Chaknachoor' alongside critically acclaimed actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
However, as a child, Athiya always had fun birthday parties. The 'Mubarakan' actress told, "I think my parents were more excited about my birthdays than me. My brother and I always used to have joint birthdays.
We always had very fun-themed birthdays. I remember I once celebrated our birthday in an arcade playing games. I also used to be obsessed with putting mehendi. So, I had a mehendi party. The dress code was lehengas and we danced to 'Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham' and all the 90s Bollywood songs," adding, "I used to mix chocolate cake and potato chips and used to have that. That's always been my birthday memory."
Athiya also reveals what tops her meal preference.
"I am obsessed with Rajma Chawal and I know it's something very simple. But every birthday, one meal is always Rajma chawal. But I remember in school we were allowed to get something for somebody's birthday. All my classmates only used to get me food and I went to the American school of Bombay and there were lots of students from different parts of the world. So, I used to eat food from every part of the world on my birthday," said Athiya.
When Athiya is asked about her dad Suniel Shetty's cooking skills, she smiles and said, "He is manageable. He kept me alive as a child."
She adds, "My dad makes really good eggs. My father always used to shoot in Switzerland, so my memories would be time spent in Switzerland. He used to make eggs for us. That's a memory I cherish. But I don't think he can make anything else."
