No buyers for Alok Nath's Main Bhi, courtesy rape charges on the actor
Bollywood’s sanskaari babuji Alok Nath was accused of rape by a TV show writer Vinta Nanda, last year in October.
Later, a case was registered against him. A few months after being accused of rape, reports suggested that Alok Nath will be seen playing a judge who condemns sexual harassment in his next, Main Bhi, a film that revolves around #MeToo.
But now, according to a source, the producer of Main Bhi, Imran Khan, is paying a heavy price for casting Alok Nath in the film. Reportedly, the distributors are not ready to buy the film because it has the rape accused, Alok Nath.
The Main Bhi producer told Mumbai Mirror, “We wrapped up our film last year in July, long before the allegations against Alok Nath ji were made public and he was banned. A year ago, any producer would have cast him in such a role. He has worked with Subhash Ghai, Yash Chopra and Karan Johar, so where have I erred in casting him? I’ve approached so many distributors and advertisement agencies, but distributors are not buying my film due to him. It’s injustice to a small producer like me who in all fairness casted Alok Nath ji at the start of 2018.” Khan further added, “We’ve long spoken about girls being abused, but my film is the story of boys from Bhopal slums who go through similar trauma since their childhood. I locked the script and registered the title, Main Bhi, long ago.”
