One of the most bankable stars of Bollywood — Akshay Kumar — had never managed to deliver a single Rs 200 crore hit till date. But now, thanks to the five women in Mission Mangal, the actor has entered the camp of elite actors who are known to deliver Rs 200 crore hits.
On Thursday, the real-life story of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s Mars Orbiter Mission became Akshay’s first film to enter the Rs 200 crore club.
The actor already has 11 films in the Rs 100 crore club. Whereas, Salman Khan has eight films in the Rs 100 crore club and six above Rs 200 crore. Ajay Devgn has nine films in the Rs 100 crore list and one in the Rs 200 crore list.
Now, Akshay has joined the list of actors in the Rs 200 crore club that includes Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, and Ranbir Kapoor, besides Salman.
“It would not have been possible if the film’s content and the performances were not up to the mark. Akshay has consistently given Rs 100 crore films, but this film was rather special,” says an industry source.
