Manoj Bajpayee: It’s disappointing, Duronto got only one National Award.
Manoj Bajpayee, who is known for his versatility, said it’s sad that Duronto got only one National Award.
Duronto, starring Manoj Bajpai, was given the Best Children’s Film award. The film is about a forgotten child-marathon runner.
Manoj Bajpayee calls National Awards ‘mercurial’. He said that he expected his upcoming film to win in more than one category.
He recently ran a homosexual in filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s latest film, Aligarh. The actor will next be seen a children’s flick, which has gained a National Award in the Best Children’s film category.
Duronto, made by Odia filmmakers Soumendra Padhi and Sabyasachi Mohapatra, the film is based on a child marathoner, Budhia Singh, who filled out a marathon from Bhubaneswar (Odisha) to Puri (Odisha) in four hours.
‘I am honored to be a component of such an awe-inspiring film. It feels good that the flick has had such a great reference. It will move to many world film festivals soon’, stated Manoj.
The actor adds that he awaited the film to win more than one National Award.
“It’s deplorable that it took just one prize. I was anticipating it to win in more than one class. One time they watch the movie, people will imagine that it should have won more awards,” says Manoj.
Speaking around the grandness of the National Awards, the Bollywood actor says that they are ‘quite mercurial in nature for many years’.
He said, ‘Sometimes they are so right, but most of the times, they are mercurial’.
