Luv Ranjan’s next directorial is an action-thriller featuring Ajay Devgn and Ranbir Kapoor. The 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' director had announced the project as a Christmas 2020 release.
The film, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Luv, created further buzz earlier this year, when Ajay and Luv teamed up for 'De De Pyaar' De.
However, soon after, speculation was rife that the film had been shelved due to creative differences 'between the actor-director duo. Meanwhile, several reports claimed that Luv had moved on to another film, which would feature Ranbir and Shraddha Kapoor.
Now, we have learnt that Luv’s action-thriller with Ajay and RK is still on.
Explaining that delays in his upcoming films, like 'Bhuj: The Pride of India', had affected all subsequent assignments, Ajay told Media, “Rana Daggubati, who’s playing a pivotal role in 'Bhuj', had taken ill. That’s one reason why the film got a little delayed,” adding that another one of his upcoming projects, 'Chanakya' with filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, has been rescheduled to start sometime in mid-2020 for the same reason.
The actor further revealed, “With my films getting a little delayed, Luv has a free schedule and he has also got Ranbir’s dates.
He told me about another script and asked me if he could make that film while I completed other commitments, instead of losing out on Ranbir’s dates. I told him he could go ahead and make this film first instead of waiting for me. After he makes this film and I am done with other commitments, we’ll begin work on our collaboration.”
According to a source close to the project, there was no question for Ajay opting out of the film, which was reportedly set to take off in March 2020.
“There were no creative differences. The film had to wait as it can’t be made without Ajay,” the source added. Luv, on his part, recently confirmed on the sidelines of an event in the city that work on the film is in progress.
