“India in particular is no country for women,” Anoushka Shankar reacts strongly against Hyderabad rape case
The brutal gang rape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinarian doctor in Hyderabad has caused a public outrage and also triggered angry reactions from Bollywood celebrities.
Recently musician Anoushka Shankar took to social media to express her angst regarding in four strongly worded tweets.
She referred to Nirbhaya case of 2012 and revealed how it changed her life and she ended up speaking up about her own sexual abuse ordeal in a video.
She further stated that despite ‘new laws and new courts’, nothing has changed and that ‘women are being raped every minute every day’.
Earlier, actress and politician Jaya Bachchan had spoken the case in Parliament.
ANI quoted her, “People now want the government to give a proper and definite answer. These types of people (the accused in rape case) need to be brought in public and lynched.” Bollywood actors like Rishi Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar had also demanded justice for Hyderabad victim.
