Mushfiqur, Mehedi put up a fight as Bangladesh end Day 3 at 322/6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal.
Bangladesh, who resumed play at 41/1, were on the backfoot as they lost Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque in quick succession.
While Tamim was done in by Umesh’s quick thinking in the field, Mominul was done in by Umesh’s brilliant bowling display. While Mahmudullah tried to hold fort in Shakib’s company, he could not survive long enough.
Mushfiqur Rahim (81 not out), Shakib Al Hasan (82) and Mehedi Hasan (51 not out) scored fighting half-centuries on day three of the one-off Test here on Saturday.
However, a big first inning total of 687 meant that India continues to enjoy the upper hand against Bangladesh. While Umesh Yadav and Co posed quite a few questions, it was Bangladesh’s resolve that delayed India’s plans to wrap up the visitors’ innings on day three.
Bangladesh though, were brought on track following two 100-plus run partnerships – first between Shakib and Mushfiqur.
And followed by Mehedi Hasan and Mushfiqur as Bangladesh ended day three at 322/6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal.
Mushfiqur becomes the fourth Bangladeshi cricketer to score 3000 Test runs while Mehedi Hasan brings up his maiden Test fifty.
The duo has put up a spirited effort to deny India a chance to run through the Bangladesh batting line-up.
