It’s been months since Fawad Khan made his exit from India. All the controversies pertaining to Pakistani actors and their stand on the Uri terror attack had stirred talks all across the film fraternity and outside as well.
It ultimately resulted in a ban on all the actors from that side of the border. To allow art to be fragmented through the narrow walls of politics is never a great idea. But sadly, we couldn’t escape it.
Even now, Fawad is often criticised for not condemning the terror attack and not expressing his opinion about the ban on Pakistani artistes either.
Recently, he broke his silence during an at-length conversation with Dawn, a leading Pakistani publication, where he revealed why he kept mum all this while.
“I’d rather speak less because I don’t consider myself a very intelligent person. So I think rather than being a victim of ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease one should refrain from talking as much as possible. I do tend to ramble and I can ramble with my friends and be expressive. But I feel… when you’re on a public platform and you put something out there in front of people who don’t know you, they might just perceive it in a very different way altogether,” Fawad said.
“Some people may say it’s wrong and that you should stand up for what’s right, he added.
But my argument is: it’s all so gray, how can you say what’s right or wrong? You stand up for one thing and there will always be someone who’s an opponent of that idea,” he stated.
While the terror attack in Uri allegedly initiated by Pakistani terrorists is worth of being condemned by every single person, the situation in India had become way too vulnerable for Pakistani artistes.
With criticism and virtual bashes pouring in from all corners (often for no reason), they were left with no other way but to remain silent. However, we wish Fawad comes back to Bollywood soon!
