Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Rananut, were at loggerheads during the shoot of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon (2017), which also starred Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. It all started when Kangana was reportedly throwing her weight on the sets of the film.
Rumours were abuzz that the Queen actress constantly reminded people of her achievement and was being very interfering in the creative decisions. Not only this, she had even branded herself as the 3rd hero of the film.
And now, latest reports are that Kangana and Shahid may cross paths again, this time at the box-office. Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh, which is the official remake of Arjun Reddy, will have a face-off withKangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao’s Mental Hai Kya on June 21.
Ekta’s Mental Hai Kya was earlier scheduled to release on May 24, which would have then clashed with Arjun Kapoor’s India’s Most Wanted, but was later pushed four weeks ahead, and will now clash with Shahid and Kiara’s love story.
Talking about their soured equation, when Kangana had called herself the third hero of Rangoon, Shahid had reacted on the same and told DNA, "There are three protagonists in the film and for me, being a hero or a heroine doesn't make any difference. So, if saying that you being a hero makes you a bigger person, I don't agree with that thought process."
The rumours then intensified, when Kangana described Saif Ali Khan as a "classic man” and on Shahid she had said, “People need to understand that we don't go to work to make friends.”
Later, at the premiere of xXx: Return Of Xander Cage, Kabir Singh actor had cleared the air of his cold war with Kangana and had said, "There are no issues between me and Kangana... I will promote the film whenever, wherever happily with Kangana and Saif (Ali Khan), who is also a very big part of the film."
