Athiya Shetty has made a slow, but steady start in Bollywood. The young actress, who made her debut opposite Sooraj Pancholi in ‘Hero’ (2015), followed it up with an engaging performance opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ (2019).
The latter film was in the news last year after its director Debamitra Biswal had a rather public fallout with the producers.
Biswal said that she was unhappy with the way the film had turned out, and said it was completely different from the vision she had for it. She eventually took the producers to court of pending dues. While Athiya’s performance was appreciated by some critics, the film failed to create magic at the box office.
Now, almost a year after the whole controversy, Athiya’s father, actor Suniel Shetty has spoken about how it affected the actress.
He said that the experience had ‘scarred’ Athiya after she found herself dragged into something that she was not accountable for. Athiya, who spent the lockdown months with her family in Lonavala, regularly shares updates on her Instagram handle. Her most recent post features her pet dog and her lying down on the grass. She captioned it, ‘Nap location’. Dressed in a simple white tee and jeans, the actress carried off the casual look effortlessly.
