Anees Bazmee revealed why he hasn’t worked with Ajay Devgn or made a thriller in years?
Anees Bazmee had a string of superhits as a writer, with films like 'Swarg', 'Shola Aur Shabnam', 'Bol Radha Bol', 'Aankhen', 'Raja Babu', 'Andaaz' and 'Laadla' before he turned director with 'Hulchul'.
While his directorial debut didn't fare as well as the films he scripted, its leading man Ajay Devgn backed him for his second directorial venture, 'Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha'. What's more, like his debut, his second film also starred Kajol as Ajay's leading lady.
The film went on to become a big hit and the director and actor teamed up again for 'Deewaangee', a thriller that also saw Ajay give one of his best performances.
While the two friends collaborated again for another thriller, Benaam, it didn't make it to the cinemas. Bazmee why he hasn't made a thriller or teamed with Ajay since then, and the 'Mubarakan' director says, "It's not intentional, it's just that I have been looking for a good subject to make a thriller.
Now, I finally have one and if it develops well, I will go ahead. I make one film in one-and-a-half to two years, so it's important that the subject retains my interest for that long.
As for working with Ajay, he's a very good friend. However, we got busy with our respective movies. We don't meet for months, but whenever we do, we have that instant connect. If I tell him that I have a very good subject for him, he won't insist on a bound script. He trusts me as a good writer."
