When asked to comment about donating, Akshay joked, "Ma'am, mere paas bohot paise hai." On a serious note, he said, "Maine parso-tarso ek photo dekhi thi, jis mein ek aurat apne bachche ko leke pani ke through nikal rahi thi. I consider it lucky that humare saath aisa nahi hua. When I saw that photograph, I thought yeh mere saath bhi ho sakta hai. Meri biwi aur beti ke saath bhi ho sakta hai."

"Uss photo mein itna pani tha (indicates chest level) aur bachche ko yahaan leke jaa rahi thi (gestures over his shoulder)," he added.

Akshay said that he did not want to just tweet about the floods, but actually help in whatever capacity he could. He also urged the mediapersons present at the event to contribute instead of showing solidarity on Twitter. "Mujhe sirf react nahi karna hai aur 'so sad' Twitter pe nahi daalna hai. Main aap sab se darkhwaast karunga, yeh mat daalo, kuch karo. Chahe woh ek chawanni kyun na ho aur Rs 25 lakh kyun na ho aur Rs 25 crore kyun na ho. Jitna aap de sako, do. Stop tweeting about it and saying 'it is so sad', 'God bless everyone' and all that. Do something about it," he said.

On the work front, Akshay is gearing up for the release of Jagan Shakti's Mission Mangal, which tells the story of the Mars Orbiter Mission, the country's first interplanetary mission.
