Choosing the right accessory is as important as choosing the right dress. You might be fond of wearing accessories, but are you wearing the right ones in the right way?

Here are a few tips that will help you choose the right accessories:

Get organised

You should be aware of all the accessories you have including rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. Know, not just about their existence, but their shape, size, colour, weight and other properties. Now, categorise them according to their type and put them in a convenient place.

And if you think this is a waste of time, think again! Have there been occasions when you didn’t find the perfect pair of earrings to match your dress because you didn’t remember they existed? Have you ever bought a beautiful neckpiece but never worn it because you could never locate it at the right time?

Organisation might not improve your choice, but it certainly helps you choose.

Matching is not everything!

Don’t just keep hunting for matching things to go with your outfit. Focus on your overall look. If the matching set is too heavy for the occasion, go for a neutral coloured light set. Accessories in silver usually go with all colours. But never wear silver if you have gold work on your dress.

If your outfit has a deep neck, you can choose to wear a heavy neckpiece and earrings. But if it has a high neck, keep the accessories right under your face as light as possible.

Bold v/s delicate

If you want to wear a bold accessory like a large-beaded neckpiece, do not accompany it with other bold stuff. Let the focus be on that one fashion statement. But if you have a delicate set, you can mix and match it with other fine jewellery and accessories.

Day v/s evening

It is an unsaid rule that evening occasions call for heavy dressing. So, you can be more liberal in choosing your accessories for the evenings. For occasions during daytime, light colours and simple, complimenting accessories should be the preferred choice.

Always trust your mirror!
