Weigh In: Experts recommend weighing yourself once a week when trying to lose weight. But try weighing yourself every morning for the next one month. This may be stressful at times, but very encouraging on the whole, if you play by the rules. This will help you in maintaining the required focus.

Go Aerobic: For quick results, you MUST include 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise into your daily schedule. This could be running, jogging, skipping or dancing. Walking is a great exercise but not preferable right now since the time is short. The idea is to keep the heart beat rate elevated for as long as possible. The best time is morning, but evenings are OK as long as you don’t eat anything for at least 3 hours before you begin.

Pump Iron: Weight training can be your best buddy when you are trying to lose weight. The results are quicker and are there for everyone to see. 20 minutes in the morning is all you need!

Water Thyself: Try to drink at least 2-3 litres of water everyday. This helps in flushing out the toxins from your body and also helps in avoiding water retention by the body. That means you can lose weight.

Sleep Well: Get adequate sleep for the whole of next month. Sleeping is required for your body to repair the damage done through the day. Research shows that on an average, women who get adequate sleep weigh almost 2-3 kilos less than women who don’t.

Grapefruit: Having a grapefruit or grapefruit juice before all your meals is known to help in losing weight.

Calorie Count: Throughout the next month, try to eat foods that are low in calories and fat. So go for a salad instead of fries. Avoid heavy desserts and fried snacks. But don’t stop eating!!!

Green Tea Drinking green tea a couple of times a day helps in boosting your weight loss program. Green tea will not help you lose weight on its own, but will make your weight loss program more effective. Go for the unsweetened version.

Support Buddy: Join a weight watchers’ support group, or at least enlist the companionship of a friend. Doing this together will help both of you in staying focussed and motivated. It may also bring a competitive spirit which can be beneficial for both.

High Protein: Increasing the protein content in your diet helps in losing weight quickly. One of the reasons is that a high number of calories are burnt up in digesting the protein. Go for lean meat, eggs and peanuts.

Low Carbs: Going low on carbohydrates is a sure shot formula for losing weight quickly. So cut back on rice, pasta, chapatis, noodles, potatoes etc. Substitute with high protein eggs, vegetables, soy flour, paneer etc.

Milk: Research shows that women who consume milk while on a diet lose more weight as compared to women who diet without milk. So try to consume 1-2 glasses of skimmed milk every day. This will give you a good dose of calcium and will also keep you full.

Write It: Maintaining a food journal helps in sticking to your diet. As soon as you binge, the journal will make you feel guilty. So the next time you have the urge to binge, you will think a few times and probably not do it.
