Taj Mahal and other Monuments had been closed down after the second wave of COVID19 hit India in April. But as the number of new cases continues to wave, the government has relaxed its rules and begun to open up the economy. The Taj Mahal and other monuments will also be now allowed to open, and you can plan a visit this summer with your family!
The Archaeological Survey of India has confirmed that The Taj will be open to visitors on June 16. There will be no queues for booking tickets as ticket will now only be sold online. Prahlad Singh Patel, the Minister of State for Culture and Tourism announced the re-opening saying, “Considering the prevailing situation, it has been decided that all the Centrally Protected Monuments/Sites and Museums (under ASI) shall be opened from 16.06.2021.” Last year also all the monuments and historical sites protected under central government were closed down for a few months due to COVID.
