Hailing from Hyderabad, Vijay Varma made Mumbai his home some eight years ago. With a dream to make it big in showbiz, the actor left his family behind and tried hard and even managed to crack interesting projects that had him playing important roles. The actor was applauded for his performance in Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu among others.
He also became a well-known face after he appeared in Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
Talking about his journey in Bollywood, Vijay says, “I started off my journey in showbiz with Chittagong (2012) and today I am happy to be a part of the digital wave too where I got to work in multiple web projects. I look back at all these years as a great way to build myself as an artiste. The journey in showbiz is something that nobody can prepare you for, but it is the test of your character and you need to pass it.”
Earlier while talking to Bombay Times, Vijay mentioned about the shift, which he thought was too drastic.
He said, “I came from a laid-back city which is Hyderabad and went to Pune to study at a film school. The school has a very 50s vibe and after that when I came to Mumbai the pace of this city was like a shock. I used to fall ill, was home sick and broke too. It took two years for me to adjust and make Mumbai my home. As far as the film fraternity is concerned, yes, in my initial days I used to walk up to people asking for work. But thanks to films like Pink or Gully Boy people have now started to recognise me and my work. I feel this in itself is a big achievement.”
