Actor-turned-Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Nusrat Jahan’s recent declaration saying that her ‘marriage’ with businessman Nikhil Jain was “not a marriage” but “a live-in relationship” has landed her in a major controversy, as her marriage was a widely-publicized event and among the guests in the reception were West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s, and other bigwigs of Bengali film industry and politics.
Nusrat claimed that as per the court of law, her relationship was not a marriage but a live-in relationship. “Thus, the question of divorce does not arise,” she said responding to rumors of her separation. “Our separation happened a long back, but I did not speak about it as I envisioned to keep my private life to myself,” she added.
Recently, after rumors of Nusrat’s pregnancy spread, Nikhil Jain claimed that he was not aware of it as the duo has not been together for over 6 months. Nusrat Jahan married Nikhil Jain in Bodrum of Turkey in 2019. She further alleged that Jain is not her husband anymore as they are already separated. In the intervening time, Jain issued a written statement on Thursday evening in which he said, “We lived together as husband and wife and introduced ourselves as a married couple in the society.” He alleged that, however, Jahan never regarded his repeated requests to get the marriage registered and left his place with her belongings on November 5, 2020.
Well, the controversy about Nusrat’s marriage is a big news and we are not sure how can one deny a public nuptial ceremony that happened amongst people as irrelevant.
