Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to Twitter to discourse about how “special” she felt while announcing the Oscar nomination of “The White Tiger” for Best Adapted Screenplay at the upcoming 93rd Academy Awards. Priyanka has a role in the film, and also announced the Oscar nominations with husband and pop star Nick Jonas on Monday evening conferring to India time.
“Just got nominated for an Oscar! Congratulations Ramin and team #TheWhiteTiger. Somehow announcing the nomination myself made it so much more special. So so proud,” she wrote on the microblogging platform, tagging actors and her co-stars in the film Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav.
Leading man Gourav expressed his happiness after legitimately becoming part of an Oscar nominated film. “Ramin Bahrani! You are a legend! So proud of the entire team!! Congratulations everyone,” he wrote on Instagram. The 26-year-old actor also posted a video of the nomination ceremony, where he could be heard consoling on when “The White Tiger” landed a spot in the top five of the category. Rao also shared the nomination card on Instagram alongside some pictures from the film’s sets.
Directed by Ramin Bahrani, the film snared the nomination along with films like “Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm”, “The Father”, “Nomadland”, and “One Night in Miami”. The Oscar nod for “The White Tiger” comes five days after the team’s scored two BAFTA nominations.
