Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to play the ostensible role of the late Indian politician, film actress, and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa in her upcoming film Thalaivi. The multilingual biographical film which revolves around the life late politician and is directed by AL Vijay. Earlier scheduled to release in June last year, it got pushed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And as today marks the 73rd birth anniversary of Jayalalithaa, makers released the release date of the upcoming film online. Thalaivi is all set to release on 23rd April. The announcement was first made by lead actress Kangana on her official Twitter handle. Interestingly, Thalaivi was also officially announced on 24 February 2019, on Jayalalithaa’s 71st birth anniversary. Two years later, it is ready to hit the theatres in April this year.

‘Thalaivi’ is all set to hit the big screens on April 23, 2021. Directed by A. L. Vijay, the film also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta and others in pivotal roles. ‘Thalaivi’ will also witness the ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ actress Bhagyashree portraying the role of J. Jayalalithaa’s mother.
