Padmavati is making a lot of sounds lately. Initially, it was because of the praising the movie was gathering from the trailer and song release but now the movie is making sounds for all wrong reasons and it seems like a bad news from the Filmmakers of the movie Padmavati.
Amid snowballing protests and threats over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, the lead actress in the film, Deepika Padukone, has now been provided special security by the Mumbai police, says media reports. The Mumbai police’s move comes after the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, the fringe group that has been fronting the protests against the film, threatened Padukone with physical harm. Mahipal Singh Makrana, president of Rajasthan unit of the outfit, said that they would not hesitate to chop off Deepika’s nose like Shurpanakha.
While a BJP MLA from Telangana has threatened to burn down theatres of Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh-Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmavati is released there, factions in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have also sought a ban on the film’s release. It is yet to release, but the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is already encountering constitutional troubles across the country. Several groups have objected to the content of the film, claiming it insults the Rajput community and is a distortion of history, which “hurts their religious sentiments”.
As per the protestors, the filmmakers are portraying the film as a love story between Alauddin Khilji and Padmini, which is an unconcealed misrepresentation of history. That is why they stopped the shooting and told the makers that we won’t let them continue unless they make changes.
Let’s see the fate of Padmavati on 1st December.
