The Shaukeens Are Here!

If you loved the 70s and 80s of Bollywood, you will definitely recall “Shaukeen”. This was the film where veterans Ashok Kumar, AK Hangal and Utpal Dutt played 3 elderly men whose lecherous behaviour belied their age. The film was loved by all and was remade in Telgu.

Grazing Goat Pictures decided to remake the film into a modern day tale of ageing guys who were still young (and lecherous) at heart. So they have come up with “The Shaukeens”, which will be released on November 7 this year. The modern day shaukeens are played by actors Annu Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra. Akshay Kumar has been roped in to play the character played by Mithun Chakraborty in the original. Sexy Lisa Hayden is playing the character played by Rati Agnihotri in the 80s comedy.

It is so easy to make and watch films that revolve around men who never grow up. But when will Bollywood manage guts to make such a film revolving around women? Do you think you might be interested in watching 3 middle aged women chasing after a hot hunk? Imagine Dimple Kapadia, Poonam Dhillon and Arun Irani all chasing after John Abraham while he has eyes only for Dippy. Would you watch that?
