Big B has it. ”Big Sister” Shilpa Shetty has one too. So how can Shahrukh Khan be left behind? SRK now joins the league of Bollywood stars who have been honored with honorary Doctorate degrees by foreign universities.
High time, we say! After all, isn’t Shahrukh Khan the most successful Bollywood star overseas? SRK pulls international crowds better than any other Indian actor or celebrity, whether it is a stage show or a Bollywood film release. Such is the hold of SRK over our NRI audiences. So the King Khan is being awarded an honorary “Doctorate in Arts & Culture” by the “University of Bedfordshire, UK”
According to reports, the ceremony will be held at Hotel Courthouse, London, where SRK will receive the degree from Vice Chancellor of University, Les Ebdon. The University of Bedfordshire has a large number of Indian students, which may be one reason behind this honor for SRK. The University states in its official website that SRK was nominated for the honor by Routes 2 Roots. This is an NGO that attempts to bring together people from across different cultures and values in South Asia, especially India and Pakistan.
Who can deny the success of SRK in this particular regard? People from across geographical boundaries love him alike. King Khan’s charm and humor has won him the love and respect of countless fans all over the globe. This is why Shahrukh has decided to be present at the event and to receive the honor personally.
Meanwhile SRK is busy shooting in US for Karan Johar’s “My Name Is Khan” along with bum chum Kajol. A little birdie tells us that SRK is trying to cover losses from his cricket team, by allowing people to click pictures with him in exchange for a few dollars. That’s kind-of cheap Dr. Khan!
