They say it is difficult for television actors to make a name in Bollywood. Decades have passed since Shahrukh Khan proved this to be wrong. SRK practically owns Bollywood! But apart from King Khan, few tele-actors have successfully made the crossover to films. One such successful actor is Sakshi Tanwar. After having ruled the Indian television as Parvati Bhabhi in the hit soap Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Sakshi is now working in films. You have already seen her in a guest appearance in Ekta Kapoor’s “CKompany”. That guest appearance was just a trailer of Sakshi’s career plans. All these months we have been wondering where Sakshi went off after “Kahani..” got taken off air. While some people talked about a marriage, others mentioned a pregnancy! The truth is that Sakshi has been busy shooting for her films. Yes, that’s multiple. Sakshi’s first release (not counting CKompany) is slated for 17th April, 2009. The film called “Coffee House” has her playing a pivotal character, wife to Ashutosh Rana. “Coffee House” has been directed by Gurbir ji, who incidentally gave Sakshi her first break on TV in a serial called “Dastur”. What is “Coffee House” all about? In Sakshi’s words, “I play the character called Kavita who is the main protagonist and wife to Ashutosh Rana. She is running a newspaper while her husband is member of theatre group. The film represents the youth, the unemployed, retired senior citizens. In this there is a fair blend of emotions, comedy and hard-hitting questions that would leave the audience thinking for quite some time.” Sakshi has also finished shooting for another film, which she cannot talk about at the moment. She did tell us that this film is in post production stage now, and she will be able to talk about it very soon. Bollywood seems to be opening its doors to TV actors. Rajeev Khandelwal aka “Sujal” of Kahin To Hoga has already been seen in a critically acclaimed movie Aamir. He has another release lined up for this year. Rajeev’s onscreen love Aamna Shariff aka Kashish has also recently been seen in Aloo Chat. Going by these examples, the day is not far when television actors will be a regular appearance on the big screen.
