India has always been in a limelight in the world, be it in the sector of beauty, politics, entertainment or something else. For India, it is a proud moment to know that this year’s Miss World is from our own country. India’s Manushi Chhillar won the coveted “Miss World 2017” title on Saturday at a glittering event in Sanya, China, ending a 17-year drought for India at the international pageant.

Yes, you heard it right, after Priyanka Chopra it is Manushi Chhillar who is the rightful successor to the Miss World crown. Manushi is the sixth Indian to win the title and the first since Priyanka Chopra, who won the crown in 2000. After the win, Manushi gave her sentiments out in media by stating that, “The feeling is still sinking in and I am very excited to make India proud too. I’m also looking forward to the year ahead.” Manushi is born to doctor parents in Haryana, which once ranked the worst among all states in sex ratio in India.

Manushi further added in her interaction with media that, “My parents have always been my pillar of support and having them here tonight by my side has only brought me more strength and joy. “My final answer also came to me by having them here with me in front of me,” said Manushi, whose family members, including her brother and a sister, were present at the gala.

After Manushi’s win, the whole India showered the blessing with congratulations notes on Twitter. We cannot be happier to get recognized in a world platform. You go girl.
