After a spate of sports biopics, finally we will watch something a little different. “An Insignificant Man” is a political biopic based on the life of Arvind Kejriwal. The film is not a fictionalized story but is more like a documentary that shows the rise of Arvind Kejriwal as one of the most loved politicians in the country.

Arvind Kejriwal, who was indeed an insiginificant man, drew attention when he joined Anna Hazare’s movement to force the government to implement Lokpal. Anna took a backseat after the end of this andolan at Jantar Mantar, but Kejriwal took his close associates and formed a new political party. At a time when the country was embroiled in many controversies about corruption, the people were looking for change. The ruling party at the Centre had big corruption charges against them and people wanted to see new faces in politics with clean backgrounds. This is how Kejriwal and his party “Aam Aadmi Party” rose to fame.

This is indeed a story worth seeing on the big screen. The film was shown at the Toronto Film Festival last year and was received very well. It has taken a while for the Film Certification Board to clear the release of this film in India. We will get to watch this film on 17 November this year! This is surely one that nobody should miss, especially if they have any interest in politics!
