The #MeToo movement kicked up a storm in Bollywood once again. As per the latest news, nine high-profile Bollywood mavens, including an actor and a photographer, have been accused of rape and molestation by a model in the Indian city of Mumbai that houses one of the world’s largest film industries.
While the name of the accuser remains hidden for safety purposes, The Independent reported that these nine celebrities have been accused of rape and molestation. A police complaint had been filed against actor Jacky Bhagnani – famous for his role in Youngistaan – on May 26. Other names include photographer Colston Julian, talent manager Anirban Das Blah, ’83 producer Vishnu Wardhan Induri, Ajit Kumar, Krishan Kumar of T-Series and several others.
The model told media houses: “Police have registered an FIR after so many days of succumbing my complaint letter against the high-profile people, but none of them have been arrested yet. In a bid to conduct panchnama (recordings of the scene of crime), one woman police officer took me to the locations where these accused sexually abused me in Mumbai. It seems that Colston Julian has gone underground as his Bandra house was locked and his car was also not there when we visited. Bhagnani is somewhere in foreign land and he is expected to reach Mumbai in September.”
A senior police official shared that the accused have been booked under the sections 378 (N), 354 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigations are underway. Well, it seems like the 2018 movement is back to light once again.
