The party season has already begun and many of us are looking forward to celebrating the festive season with friends and families. It is difficult to avoid downing a few drinks when you are in a festive mood at parties. After all, everyone around you is having a good time, so you might as well join in, Right? In such a scenario, hangovers are not very uncommon. In our previous article in this series, we mentioned a few ways to avoid hangovers. This article will give you tried and tested tips for curing hangovers.

Do You Have A Hangover?

If you consumed more than your fair share of alcohol in the evening and wake up with a headache, sensitivity to light & sound, vomiting, diarrhea and general bad health, you have a hangover! Other symptoms of hangovers include nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite and sensitivity to light and sound, increased heart rate and blood pressure etc.

How To Cure A Hangover?

Sleep It Off: Your body’s defenses are down and you feel extremely sick and exhausted. The best way to recuperate from this condition is to sleep over it. When you wake up, see how you feel. If you don’t feel good, drink two glasses of water and go back to sleep. Repeat once again.

Drink Water: Water is important before, during and after consumption of alcohol. Dehydration is the main reason why you feel so sick and tired. So rehydrating your body is a priority.

Aspirin: Take an aspirin with water to get quick relief. You can also take a multivitamin to give an energy boost to your body.

Fruit Funda: It is advisable to consume foods that contain Fructose, since it helps in burning the alcohol faster. It eases the metabolic effects of drinking, but may not help with hangover symptoms immediately. So fresh fruit and vegetables are considered a good choice.

Have A Meal: Complex carbs help in absorbing the alcohol, boosting blood sugar and restoring body balance. You also need to restore salt and potassium in your body. So foods like soup, toast and sandwiches are considered helpful in curing a hangover.

Fresh Air: Getting some fresh air may be a good idea to get rid of the hangover. You may go out for a walk or just sit in the balcony if you feel too tired.

Another Drink: Though it has not been proven, many people swear by this trick. A hangover can be cured by consuming another alcoholic drink in the morning. It seems that the alcohol raises your blood pressure, thereby making you feel better. But it is also said that you should never mix drinks or consume carbonated drinks to cure a hangover. The favorite hangover treatment recipe is the Bloody Mary.
