Vijay Varma recently announced his next film’ Darlings’ opposite Alia Bhatt. While the film marks the second collaboration between the two, ETimes learned that after the impeccable performance of Vijay in ‘Gully Boy’, one of his co-stars was left so much impressed by him that he ended up bagging his next role in ‘Darlings’ after a recommendation. A source close informed ETimes, “Alia and Vijay had worked together for Gully Boy the first time and she was so impressed by his performance that she actually recommended him for Darlings since she was co-producing the film. And everyone in the team immediately hopped on board for Vijay”.
Talking about ‘Darlings’, it’s Shah Rukh Khan’s next project that will star Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah in lead roles.
While it’s said to be a dark comedy, it promises a unique story of a quirky mother-daughter duo navigating through crazy circumstances as they try to find their place in the world. Set in Mumbai against the backdrop of a conservative lower-middle-class neighbourhood, ‘Darlings’ focuses on two women and their journey to find courage and love in different circumstances of life.
On the work front, Vijay had a busy work schedule during the pandemic with ‘She’, ‘Mirzapur 2’, ‘A Suitable Boy’, and many more.
He is currently shooting for filmmaker Reema Kagti’s webseries with Sonakshi Sinha in Rajasthan. Besides ‘Darlings’, he will be next seen in ‘Ok Computer’ alongside Radhika Apte and ‘Hurdang’ co-starring Nushrratt Bharuccha.
