Is it intentional? Or is it a mere coincidence? Nobody will be able to answer that. But come August and you will see your favorite “Baadshaah” Shahrukh Khan take on the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. Now before you start picturing the two in a boxing ring (ummmmm is that even possible?), let us clarify. Both the superstars are remaking the hit Malyali film Katha Parayumbol. And whether you believe it or not, both the films will be released in August this year.
Surely you have heard of Billo Barber, Right? That’s SRK’s version of the hit film. King Khan has roped in Irrfan Khan & Lara Dutta for his movie and they are all slogging it away at the Film City, Mumbai. Now, coming to Rajnikanth, his version of the Malyali hit will be called Kuselam. Rajnikanth is currently in Hyderabad’s Ramoji Filmcity, shooting with his cast and crew.
While Rajnikanth is hoping for an August 15th release for his Tamil version, SRK has also decided to release Billo Barber in August. It would be very interesting to see what happens if both the movies release on the same date. Interestingly, SRK and Rajnikanth have had a little cold war of their own since Rajnikanth was given the Award of Entertainer of the year by a Television Channel. Apparently, SRK, who was also present at the function, took a humorous jibe at the Tamil superstar. And Rajnikanth, who is known to be a big “Big B”fan, said something like “There will be many Baadshahs, but there can be only one Shehenshah”.
Sounds interesting, Right? Since the release of Sivaji: The Boss in Maharashtra, distributors and producers have realized how popular the Southie superstar is in states other than Tamil Nadu. SRK’s Billo Barber may affect the hindi dubbed version of Rajnikanth’s Kuselam. But nevertheless, after Saawariya Vs. Om Shanti Om, this promises to be another interesting clash of the Titans. Wot say?
