As usual, the Bollywood watchers are comparing the latest release Aisha to a Hollywood film. This time the film being compared with is Sex and the City. The reasons for comparison: both are “chick flicks” with 4 babes in the lead, led by one leader who keeps them all glued together. But more importantly, “Aisha” is being touted as the path-breaker where it comes to fashion, wardrobes and accessories. So there’s little wonder that it is being compared with “S & the C”, which is regarded as the ultimate stylo chick flick.
So what’s all this about Aisha’s style statement? The film has been creating waves in the fashion world much before its release. Sonam Kapoor, who is the leading lady, is well known in the fashion world for her chic and stylish look. Her style gets better in the film as papa Anil Kapoor, who is also the producer of the film, has spared no expense in giving his daughter whatever she wants for her look in the film. stylist is an unknown name, Pernia Qureshi, who is from New York but is currently based in Delhi. A lot of Aisha’s wardrobe has been designed by the Dubai-based designer Ayesha Depala.
Since the stylist and the designer are not known names in Bollywood, they bring a fresh feel to the film. The look is completely different from whatever you may expect to see in a Bollywood flick. No sarees, no itsy bisty blouses and certainly no mismatched accessories. Aisha is all about creating a well crafted and perfect look with the right clothes and accessories.
What sets apart Aisha from other chick flicks is that all the four leading ladies, Sonam Kapoor, Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri and Lisa Haydon have been given a distinct look and feel for their characters. The designer and stylist have obviously put a lot of thought into each of the characters. So each character carries a particular type of look, which blends with the character’s persona.
But is Aisha all about clothes? Though Aisha is obsessed with clothes and jewelery, she is also a keen matchmaker. So get ready to meet this lovely South Delhi girl, who is coming at a screen near you TODAY! Good luck Aisha!
