Actor Kamal Haasan questioned by police over film set mishap

Actor Kamal Haasan appeared before the central crime branch (CCB) on Tuesday, March 3, in the accident case that took place two weeks back on the sets of his film Indian 2 claiming the lives of three technicians. The actor was summoned by the branch to record his statements in detail.

On the night of February 20, a lighting truss attached to a crane, weighing around 100 tons, crashed on the sets of Indian 2 during the shoot on the outskirts of Chennai. The accident claimed the lives of three people – an assistant director and two other technicians. Kamal Haasan mentioned that he escaped the death by a ‘whisker’. He also announced a relief of Rs 1 crore to the families of the bereaved and those who got injured in the accident.

Haasan wrote an open letter demanding an audit of the safety measures taken by the production house. In response to his letter, Lyca Productions wrote a long note claiming that the shoot was happening in the supervision of both Haasan and Shankar and therefore, the responsibility of the accident should be collectively dealt.
