2017 is definitely a year full of experimenting movies with new on screen couples and stories and trying to create history out of it. However, if you notice the big budget movies that have released so far in the Bollywood business has not made money at the box office. Be it Shahrukh or Salman, this year the movie business has run low for all big budget movies irrespective of the star cast. Is this year jinxed or the movies were not appealing to over expecting audiences.

From Rangoon and Begum Jaan to Tubelight and Jab Harry Met Sejal, it’s probably the fastest slide the business savants have witnessed in recent times. This year every movie that has an eye catching cast also struggled to make a mark at the box-office.

Is it that the filmmakers are under the presentiment that superstars can sell bad content, but it doesn’t work that way? The stardom of actors can work only up to a point and after that, the content has to address for itself. With both Tubelight and Jab Harry Met Sejal, the content was very poor, however, acting was on pace.

There have been movies like Hindi Medium and Badrinath ki Dulhania, who did better business compared to big star movies. May be audiences are now more inclined to a new subject and better storyline that has more depth to intrigue people around.

So, is this year actually jinxed or we as an audience need more conceptual story than compared to conventional Bollywood drama? What do you think?
