What’s a Holi celebration without Thandai?
Whether it is Holi on TV, in films, or in real life, Thandai is a big part of Holi festivities. Mot people usually buy their thandai mix from the stores. But why don’t you try this simple recipe to make your own thandai mix this year? You can even store the leftover mix and use it for desserts or more thandai later!
How to Make Thandai Powder
Ingredients: You will need half a cup of almonds and cashews each, 2 tbsp melon seeds, 1 tbsp poppy seeds, half tabs cardamom seeds, half tabsp black peppercorns, 2 tbsp saunf and a bunch of dried rose petals and saffron strands.
To make your thandai masala, dry roast all the ingredients. The nuts should be roasted together at one time and the spices should be roasted together in a separate batch. Allow everything to cool down. When at room temperature, grind everything together into a masala powder. Your thandai masala is ready. Store it in an air tight container.
To serve, mix 1 tbsp of the masala to a glass of milk. Top with rose petals and saffron strands. Serve chilled and enjoy!
