After the success of The Sky Is Pink on the box office, Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen in her next project, White Tiger. The film also casts Rajkummar Rao and debutant Adarsh Gourav.
Apparently, White Tiger is an edition of the Booker Prize winner Aravind Adiga’s book of the same name, 'The White Tiger'. This novel created quite a buzz when the book was launched. It also won Aravind Adiga the Man Booker prize in 2008. The film is helmed by Iranian-American filmmaker Ramin Bahrani and is Priyanka Chopra’s second co-production after The Sky Is Pink.
The White Tiger taps enchantingly into the rags-to-riches, Horatio-Alger-on-the-Ganges mythology that made Slumdog Millionaire a worldwide sensation, but the movie also recognizes the earlier film as a fairy tale, putting itself in key ways as the anti-Slumdog.
The story charts Balram's (Adarsh Gaurav) journey, who works as a driver for a wealthy businessman, played by Rajkummar Rao. He is mocked by his employers for his deprived background and is forced to take the fall for a crime he didn't commit, after which he becomes a successful entrepreneur. Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars as Pinky Madam, a first-generation immigrant in the US, who is married to Rao's character Ashok. Netflix’s The White Tiger has been written for the screen and directed by Ramin Bahrani. Chopra is also the executive producer of the film along with Emmy award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
The White Tiger is a dangerous adventure of self-betterment from the teeming city streets. The movie seems to be a great thriller with strong story-line that should not be missed.
