Mayonnaise is a great dip for those hunger pangs when you reach out for a mid-meal snack. I you have resh home made mayo in the fridge, you can convince yourself to reach out for some healthy crunchy veggies to munch on! Mayo is not only a great dip for your celery stick or carrots, it is also a great addition to your salads. It can easily uplift a boring salad and take it to perfection. It is the best addition to a simple egg salad!
So today we will show you how to make your own Mayonnaise with ingredients you have right in your fridge!
Ingredients: 1 tbsp Mustard sauce, 2 egg yolks, 250 ml refined oil, 2 tsp lemon juice or vinegar, salt and spices to taste.
Start by beating the egg yolks in a bowl. You can also use a food processor to make your Mayonnaise.
Now add the salt and pepper or other spice you like and whisk them into the yolks.
While whisking quickly, add 2-3 drops of oil. Keep whisking and slowly add in the oil. This is very important, if you add in a lot of oil, the Mayonnaise will split and curdle.
When you have added in the oil and you have a thick creamy Mayo, add in the vinegar or lemon juice.
This is a basic Mayo recipe. You can elevate it by adding your favorite flavours like roasted garlic, chilli flakes, oregano or cilantro. Store in fridge and consume within 3 days.
